Our Story

What began as a vision to give all families access to leading brain experts and therapists has grown into One Mind Foundation, a community-rooted organization bringing clinical insight into everyday family life across Central Indiana.

Our founder, Megan Peck, came to this work with two master’s degrees, more than a decade of clinical and educational experience, and a deep belief that she understood what children and families needed.

Then she became a parent herself, and everything she thought she knew became beautifully, humblingly more complicated.

Megan’s education and clinical experience did not stop mattering. Her lived experience gave that knowledge greater depth, empathy, and purpose.

That experience didn’t replace her expertise. It deepened it.

It’s why One Mind Foundation exists not just to educate families, but to truly understand them.

To meet parents where they are, not where they think they should be. And to give every child access to the kind of support that builds confidence, resilience, and connection from the inside out.

The Expert, Parent, & Founder

A Note From Megan

I went to school believing I could learn how to become the “perfect” parent.

I earned master’s degrees in early childhood education and family psychotherapy. I spent years studying, working in classrooms, and supporting families from varied backgrounds and experiences. I became a licensed therapist and dedicated the first decade of my career to providing therapeutic and educational support in the community.

I believed that knowledge would prepare me to become the kind of parent who always understood what her child needed. Then I became a mother.

Our family entered a season marked by unexpected developmental and medical complexities. Nolan arrived with 47 chromosomes and significant heart complications. We spent months at Riley Children’s Hospital, navigated open-heart surgery, and learned to live inside questions that could not always be answered by a textbook or professional training.

I began to understand the distance between knowing what families need professionally and living those needs personally. Parents do not need another voice telling them how to be perfect. They need trustworthy information, compassionate support, practical tools, and people who are willing to meet them where they are living.

Why The One Mind Foundation Exists

More families have access to mental-health information and services than in previous generations. Yet many children, caregivers, and adults still feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure where to begin.

This does not mean established approaches have failed. It means there is an opportunity to widen our understanding of what meaningful support may require.

Clinical care matters. So do prevention, education, relationships, movement, creativity, community, and the environments where children and families spend their everyday lives.

One Mind Foundation was created to help bring those pieces together.

We believe support should not begin and end at the therapy-room door. Growth also happens in homes, schools, churches, community spaces, and outdoors, where people can practice skills, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with themselves and one another.

The Wisdom of the Whole Person

People Are More Than the Challenges They Face.

Human beings are not isolated symptoms to be managed. We are shaped by interconnected systems of mind, body, relationships, meaning, environment, and community.

Our approach recognizes the whole person.

Mind

Mindfulness, reflection, emotional literacy, and attention skills help children and adults recognize patterns and respond with greater awareness.

Body

Movement, rest, sensory needs, nourishment, and nervous-system regulation influence how people experience stress, learning, and connection.

Meaning and Connection

A sense of purpose, personal values, hope, connection, and belonging can be powerful sources of resilience. Our programs help children & families discover what gives their lives meaning, strengthens their relationships, and reminds them that they are a part of something bigger than themselves.

Place

The environments around us matter. Natural settings can offer space to slow down, restore attention, move the body, and reconnect with something beyond the pressure of the moment.

Built Around the Child in Front of Us

Every child’s brain, body, personality, and story are different. Our programs are built around that truth.

Brain-First Thinking

We begin by seeking to understand how a child’s brain is developing and what their behavior may be communicating.

Kinesthetic Learning

Movement, play, art, nature, and hands-on experiences give children meaningful ways to practice and retain new skills.

Parent
Partnership

Caregivers know their children in ways professional can't. We combine that lived knowledge with trusted education/practical support.

Critical
Thinking

We help children learn how to reflect, problem-solve, and make thoughtful choices. A basic skill, but an important one.

Skill-Building Foundations

We help children strengthen the social, emotional, and executive-functioning skills they need now and throughout adulthood.

Connection Before Correction

Children are more able to learn and grow when they feel safe, understood, and connected. We make sure to make clients comfortable.

Why We Build Skills For Life

Learning That Reaches Beyond the Program

Social and emotional skills are built through practice, connection, and everyday experiences.

Our programs give children opportunities to recognize and manage emotions, build confidence, understand others, strengthen relationships, solve problems, and make thoughtful decisions.

Through movement, creativity, play, exploration, and connection, children practice these skills in ways that feel engaging and relevant to their lives.

Because the goal isn't simply to learn a skill in the moment. It's to help children build tools they can carry into their friendships, families, classrooms, communities, and future.

A More Connected Path Forward

The future of mental wellness can honor clinical science while embracing a fuller picture of what human beings need to flourish.

It can include therapy when therapy is needed. It can also include earlier education, supportive relationships, movement, nature, creativity, reflection, community, and practical tools that families can carry into everyday life.

One Mind Foundation exists to help make that wider vision accessible.

We meet families where they are and provide opportunities to pause, learn, connect, and grow, without expecting perfection.
